Entries for the annual SPVS Veterinary Business Excellence Awards are now open. The Awards, supported by Citation (Health and Safety and Employment Law experts for veterinary), are a SPVS initiative designed to celebrate and honour outstanding veterinary practices that have demonstrated exceptional performance and innovation in key areas crucial to the future success of the profession.

Why participate?
Taking part offers practices the chance to showcase their accomplishments, benchmark against other industry leaders, and inspire continuous improvement. By recognising and sharing best practices, standards of excellence can be elevated across the veterinary profession.
Award categories
As with previous years, awards are presented across three categories:
Leadership and Management Skills: Recognising practices that exhibit visionary leadership, strategic planning, resource and finance management and innovative practice development.
Team and Self Development: Celebrating practices that have excellent morale, a culture of collaborative teamworking and effective communication, in a supportive and inclusive work environment.
Veterinary start-ups: Honouring practices that have started up in the last 2.5 years, that have grown in both quantitative and qualitative parameters and achieved a profitable and sustainable business model.

Full details and entry submission can be made at https://spvs.org.uk/business-excellence-awards/. The deadline for initial submissions is Friday 9th October 2026.
Awards prizes
Five shortlisted practices in each category each receive a book of their choice, provided by 5m Books.
The 3 category winners will win full day + evening tickets to SPVS Congress 2027 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole (3 team members per practice), plus overnight accommodation.
The overall winner will then be announced at the Congress.
