Veterinary teams looking to plan practical CPD for the autumn can now view the programme for BSAVA Alba 2026, which will return to the Crowne Plaza Glasgow on 25–26 September 2026.

Developed by the BSAVA Scottish Committee, the two-day event is aimed at small animal veterinary professionals across the practice team, including veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses, practice managers and students. Delegates can access more than 12 hours of CPD through lectures, interactive case-based sessions and hands-on practical workshops.

What is on the programme?

The 2026 programme includes 36 sessions across two days, with 16 sessions running each day across concurrent streams. The programme has been designed to be fully inclusive, meaning vets and nurses can attend any session in any stream.

Clinical topics include anaesthesia, dentistry, cytology, behaviour, contextualised care in medicine and surgery, and difficult conversations in practice. The event will also include sessions on current professional issues, including updates relating to the Competition and Markets Authority and the Veterinary Surgeons Act.

Examples from the programme include feline and canine stomatitis, dental radiography and interpretation, dental emergencies, acute and chronic pain, anaesthesia in the septic patient, local blocks for general practice, skin cytology and haematology.

On the second day, sessions will cover areas such as economical diabetes management, chronic kidney and liver disease, anaemia, BOAS management in general practice, the acute abdomen, anal gland disease, aggressive dogs and behavioural euthanasia.

Practical learning and case-based discussion

Alongside lectures, BSAVA Alba 2026 will include practical CPD workshops in dental instrument training and ultrasound image optimisation using ballistic gel phantoms.

Each day will also close with “20 Questions” sessions, designed to encourage delegates to work through cases by considering the questions they would ask clients and the diagnostic questions they would want to answer. Topics include dentistry, anaesthesia, cytology, contextualised care, behaviour and surgery.

Networking and exhibition

The event will include an exhibition hall with more than 25 exhibitors expected to attend, including VetPlus, Royal Canin, Burtons Veterinary Equipment, Boehringer Ingelheim and Elanco.

A complimentary drinks reception will take place in the exhibition hall on the Friday evening, giving delegates an opportunity to catch up with colleagues and meet other veterinary professionals in a more informal setting.

Sarah Fitzpatrick, Head of Partnerships and Events at the BSAVA, said: “We’re delighted to once again bring BSAVA Alba to the heart of Glasgow. It’s a fantastic opportunity for the veterinary community in Scotland and beyond to come together, share knowledge and connect. We’re confident the programme offers real value whatever your role in the profession.”
