The Rabbit Welfare Association & Fund (RWAF) has announced the return of the Rabbit Health & Welfare Forum 2026, a one-day conference dedicated to advancing standards of rabbit medicine and welfare across the UK. Taking place in Birmingham on Saturday 13 June 2026, the event offers a comprehensive clinical stream designed specifically for veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses and clinical support staff.

Running from 9:00am to 5:00pm, the Forum combines evidence-based lectures with interactive discussion, providing practical CPD that can be applied directly in clinical practice. With delegate numbers limited, early booking is recommended.

Clinical programme highlights

The veterinary stream delivers a broad range of clinically relevant topics addressing both medical and welfare challenges commonly encountered in rabbit practice. Sessions will focus on practical decision-making, patient safety and improving outcomes.

Key topics include:

  • Improving rabbit-friendly practice standards and embedding welfare-focused care
  • Airway management and anaesthesia safety in rabbits (including emergency anaesthesia)
  • Diagnosis and treatment considerations in geriatric rabbit patients
  • Rabbit dentistry, including burring techniques and molar extraction techniques
  • Analgesia and pain management strategies
  • Interpreting rabbit radiographs with confidence

The programme features short, focused lectures supported by multiple scheduled Q&A sessions, allowing delegates to explore case-based questions and clarify practical challenges with experienced speakers, including Richard Saunders, who teaches on the Improve Veterinary Education Exotic Animal Practice Certificate
