Veterinary Ophthalmology CPD: A round-up of what we have available for vets
As we start to look to 2025, it’s time to think about what your CPD goals are and what you want to achieve with your CPD over the next year. If you’re looking to take some veterinary ophthalmology CPD, we’ve got a range of courses that might be of interest.
Why choose veterinary ophthalmology CPD?
When it comes to planning your CPD, it’s really important to think about areas you want to improve your skills in. Maybe you particularly enjoy ophthalmology and want to do more of it, in which case, taking some extra CPD in ophthalmology can help. Maybe you had a particularly stressful ophthalmology case, and you’ve identified that improving your knowledge or learning specialised practical skills might prevent a similar situation in future. Or maybe you’ve just realised it’s been several years since you last did ophthalmology CPD, and you’d like a refresher. Deciding why you want to do ophthalmology CPD can make it easier to determine the exact type of course you want to do.
Veterinary ophthalmology CPD: Our options
So, now you know what you’re looking for, have a think about whether any of the below vet CPD courses would fit your needs:
General Practitioner Certificate (GPCert) or Postgraduate Certificate (PgC) in Ophthalmology
This veterinary postgraduate certificate programme is offered as either a face-to-face course or an online certificate course with optional practical modules. In both, you’ll be taught veterinary ophthalmology over 14 modules, covering everything from eye anatomy to therapeutics, including surgery. The face-to-face course modules are held every 6-8 weeks at our Clinical Excellence Centre, with the next course running from March to December 2025. The online course runs from Sept 2025 until January 2027, with optional practical modules that are taken after the theoretical modules are complete.
Delegates on both courses have the option of taking the assessments to achieve an ISVPS GPCert in Ophthalmology and the PgC in Ophthalmology, validated by Harper Adams University. If you want to be an RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Opthalmology or want a course that grants you a highly regarded postgraduate certificate with postnominals, this is the veterinary ophthalmology course for you.
