IVSA Glasgow Hosts IVSA Vienna in Exchange Visit Supported by Improve International

12 July 2023 -

The Glasgow Chapter of the International Veterinary Students Association (ISVA) hosted a group of veterinary students from IVSA Vienna during an educational and cultural exchange visit from 12-19 April. During the visit, sponsored by global veterinary CPD specialist Improve International, the Austrian students enjoyed lectures at the Veterinary School at the University of Glasgow. They also learned about falconry and handling birds of prey and had the opportunity to practice their lambing skills.

IVSA is a global association representing veterinary students from around the world. It aims to enrich their student experience and develop their veterinary skills.  It does this through annual meetings, facilitating member exchanges and other projects focused on animal welfare, One Health, education, soft skills and wellness.

Alyssa Cramb from IVSA Glasgow said:  “The visit of our Austrian colleagues was a great success and we would like to thank Improve International for its generous sponsorship. We’re now very much looking forward to visiting Vienna later this year.”

Philippe DeSoye from IVSA Austria said: “We all fell in love with Scotland during this exchange visit and we learned a great deal too.”

John Douglass from Improve International said: “We’re living in a global world so the more opportunities vet students have to build relationships with and learn from colleagues from different countries, the better. IVSA’s exchange visits offer students a fantastic opportunity to see their chosen profession from a fresh perspective and to experience a different culture. They are also a lot of fun. We were delighted to support this visit.”
