In this Focus 20 programme, the core subjects of pain and analgesia, anaesthesia equipment and monitoring, anaesthetic drugs and fluids therapy, and managing anaesthetic complications and emergencies will be covered. 

As you progress in your own area of interest and your caseload becomes more diverse and complicated, the special considerations modules will cover more in-depth subjects, such as anaesthesia for patients with endocrine or cardiac diseases.

This Focus 20 programme is delivered online via our world-leading Learning Management Platform, with an optional local anaesthetic techniques practical day in our practical facilities. This is an unparalleled and fascinating programme written by experienced specialists that addresses essential topics, such as: 

  • Assess acute and chronic pain in dogs and cats and produce appropriate analgesic plans for various conditions and procedures. 

  • Different anaesthetic drugs are available for use in dogs and cats, and formulate appropriate anaesthetic plans for a variety of canine and feline patients

  • The function of a variety of anaesthetic equipment and monitors and identify situations where their use would be appropriate

  • Fluid therapy and transfusion plans for patients and be able to perform relevant calculations

  • The key components that contribute to anaesthetic safety and perform basic and advanced cardio-pulmonary resuscitation

This programme is suitable for all veterinary surgeons, including those who have an ISVPS General Practitioner Certificate (GPCert) and/or Postgraduate Certificate awarded by Harper Adams University.
