Enhance your nursing skills with the Emergency and Critical Care course

The Emergency and Critical Care course aims to provide veterinary nurses with the opportunity to access relevant and up-to-date knowledge of emergency and critical care and to use this knowledge to improve the treatment given to canine and feline patients in practice; to enhance the level of care and welfare of emergency and critically ill small animal patients and in doing so benefit the owner, the practice and individual staff.

This programme will:

  • Enhance your clinical skills and knowledge
  • Increase your confidence and job satisfaction
  • Enable you to gain an achievable and recognised NCert qualification

Emergency cases can be some of the most challenging and rewarding patients to deal with in practice

The programme is designed to improve your confidence in this area and is appropriate for general practice and referral nurses. It covers a range of topics, and each module will focus on particular areas of emergency and critical care. The emphasis will be on understanding the fundamental principles of nursing patients that present as emergencies and how best to nurse them to optimise their care and welfare.

By the end of the course, delegates will be expected to be able to confidently assess emergency and critically ill patients, monitor clinical progress, implement necessary fluid and nutritional support and apply their new knowledge to effective nursing of the emergency medical and surgical patient.
